RECALL THE POPCORN WAGON?

Your very interesting story in the last issue of Historical Highlights (Sept. 1999) about bands in Sidney brought back some wonderful memories for me. I remember going to the band concerts on Thursday nights when the band members would be seated on the steps of the Court House and people would stand or sit on the grass of the court yard. My father, Charles Eicher, would always take me first to the Popcorn Wagon on the corner to buy the best popcorn in the world! I remember Homer Crusey and also Mr. Monroe who came from Piqua to sing. The above photo shows my father on the left, and I can’t identify the other man. Does anyone remember "Prince Albert," the elderly man who showed up in full dress suit with tails and a top hat to lead every parade in town? I guess he was a sort of town character, and this was in the 1920’s.
