Traveling Through Time With the Shelby County Historical Society

About the Author, Rich Wallace

A writer of multiple historical articles, Rich is an attorney who is a partner in the law firm of Elsass, Wallace, Evans, Schnelle & Company, L.P.A. in Sidney. He received his Juris Doctorate from Ohio Northern University, and while there, served as Associate Editor of the publication, Law Review.

Rich is currently a member of the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Ohio and Shelby County State Bar Associations. In his seventh year as President of the Society, Rich has always taken an active leadership role within the community. He has been involved with volunteer work for over twenty years.

Rich is the author of a historical column entitled, "The Way We Were", published monthly in the local newspaper, The Sidney Daily News. This column focuses on people, places and events of historical significance in Shelby County. In 1997, Rich received an excellence award from the Ohio Historical Society for these articles. In 1997/98, Rich authored three of eight Society's teacher's guides covering the topics of Industry, Civil War and Canals.

Rich was selected by the Shelby County Council of International Reading Association for a "Celebrate Literacy" award which recognized an individual that has made significant contributions to the promotion of reading. In 1999, Rich authored all 10 segments of 20th Century Diary, a special publication by the local newspaper documenting the century in review.  These publications can be reviewed on the computerized Intranet at the William A. Ross, Jr., Historical Center.
