Depending on the type of information you need, you will first want to pay a visit to one of the following: the William A. Ross, Jr., Historical Center, Shelby County Courthouse, Health Department, or the Amos Memorial Public Library. All of these places have reference material for your use.

Miscellaneous microfilm items: Genealogy collection of Roy E. Lacey of Anna, Ohio, Civil War Roster Index for Ohio (refers to the Ohio Civil War book collection on the genealogy section shelves), 31 published historical and genealogical books focusing on Pennsylvania and Virginia, Daughters of the American Revolution magazine for 1892 to 1994, and ships’ passenger lists.

Microfiche: Ohio Newspaper Microfilm Catalog (an index to Ohio newspapers at the Ohio Historical Society in Columbus) and the IGI (International Genealogical Index of the United States).


Fort Loramie Branch Library
A special collection of research materials on German ancestry, including a copy of the 1874 census of St. Michael’s Church of Ft. Loramie which includes household head; birth, marriage, and immigration years; region of origin; parents; and children. Collection also includes Ft. Loramie area "funeral cards" dating from the late 1800’s which list deceased person’s birthplace, parents, children, in-laws, siblings, and other biographical data. For more information on the Ft.
